This made me think of the godly parent whose child moves from dependence to independence. You have chosen to model your life after God’s virtues, and therefore, there is a parallel with the situation between God and man mentioned above. You brought your children into this world and feel responsible for their outcome. While you had full control, you enjoyed a lower level of anguish, worry, and sadness regarding their actions. As they transition toward independence, your anguish will increase and is like what God must have felt about us, about you. This is a type of sacrifice or suffering, and God was willing to endure it, even embrace it, to allow us to reach the full meaning and potential of our humanity. Because God loved and cared, He was willing to sacrifice and suffer to allow us free will. Because you love and care (He is your model) , you too are willing to and do sacrifice and suffer that your children, through good and bad choices, may become the mature human beings you want them to be.
